Mind Boggling Ride

Boy! Oh,Boy! This ride is one hell of a ride..alright. As a matter of fact, the night before the ride, gut feeling tells me this ride is not going to be one of the usual rides. It was so intimidating that I looked up the last writeup by 1 MTB rider in the HaSH website.

The ride from Kemensah to Sofia Jane is predictable however the tar road climb felt rather short. We regrouped & headed into the trail. I should say that the ride is good until about an hour later. The trail is madness, never have I imagined that we would be spending our Saturdays trying to get through from point A to point B, what more biking. The bamboo and overgrowth on both sides of the trail is at somepoints, unpenetrable. We, 12 riders have "Ramboman" to thank if not for his parang wielding skills, the ride would have been aborted.

The whole ordeal is unforgetable cos we had to carry, push, crawl on 4's & not forgeting we experienced first hand "AN ALL OUT ON SLAUGHT" of the leech Brigade. A fellow rider rewrote the world record for leech bite as he recorded 21 bites all over his body. I was lucky though as I only had 3. That makes me a corporal rank now.
I noticed the suckers seemed more aggresive as we threaded deeper into the jungle. They just wouldn't budge, not even by pulling them. Luckily, I was prepared & I testing out the effectiveness of the new "MOSIGUARD" which is endorsed by the Forest Reserve Department. All I did was spray onto them & shortly afterwards "IT" just kind of suffocated and fell off. Cool, huh? Actually, I go berserk & freak out when I encounter "THEM or IT". Yuks!

It was not until about 5pm that we reached a rideble single trail however I was not amused or thrilled as we are losing light and it was difficult to ride on a single trail going on a hunch alone. I have had my share of crashes & this is a recipe to a crash.True enough, I slowed down & a fellow rider over took me & he didn't go very far, probably about 5 metres or so & then CRASH!

I was on the verge of losing it when I reached a tar road. What came to mind was...Civilisation..PEOPLE..FOOD..I need a bath! We all soaked at a nearby river for a good half an hour then we head off to a nearby food stall. The initial plan was to ride another 30km back to our starting point but it was getting dark & we were all shivering & any longer, I am pretty sure you will read about 12 riders suffered Hyperthermia in tomorrow's newpapers.

Again, RAMBOMAN came to the rescue as he arranged fro a MPAJ truck to take us back to the city. 3 cheers for RAMBOMAN!Hip.Hip. Hooray!
